Every parent’s feeding experience is as unique as their baby. While the journey may be easy for some, others may struggle. Real Parent Story is a series on our blog where we ask real parents to share their feeding stories. Whether you’re expecting or already have little one, we hope these stories can offer you insight into what worked (or didn’t work) for parents just like you.
I had done a lot of research on many formulas over the years because my previous two children also were mostly formula fed, and both of them also needed a different “unconventional” formula outside of the regular “yellow package” infant ones.
My baby had very severe eczema and his body reacted badly every time he drank regular infant formula. I had read that having a sensitivity to cow's milk or corn could cause this. After trying many different skincare routines for my son and none of them worked, I decided to try Kabrita as a last resort.
All of my children had eczema as babies, but my son Nehemiah had it so bad that he oozed pus and scratched himself so hard he bled. He would cry after every bottle of formula prior to Kabrita and his body and face would get very red. I tried so many expensive skincare products for him and expensive probiotics that were made for eczema and nothing worked. The majority of his problems went away after drinking only Kabrita for a day, when he was about 4 months old. He literally stopped scratching and turning red after one day, and the eczema mostly cleared within a week.
Yes it did. I know the quality standards and ingredient standards for formula and most food in general is much higher in Europe than in the USA, and I did see that the ingredients in Kabrita were WAY better than any American-made formula. All American formulas had corn syrup solids in it, which is what I was trying to avoid.
No problems at all, he drank it right away without rejecting it at all.
I have not tasted it myself but it noticeably smells better and different from all other formulas I have ever used. In fact, it really does not have a smell at all unless it's been sitting in a bottle for way too long overnight and I have to dump it, but other formulas have a really weird smell to me. So I imagine the flavor is much better.
It's hard to pick one favorite – I like that the scent is neutral, that there are almost no bubbles after mixing it, and that my baby's eczema improved so much.
After using Kabrita, I no longer had to put protective gloves on my baby to prevent scratching, and cover him in hydrocortisone, shea butter and vaseline 4 or 5 times a day anymore. His open wounds from the eczema healed and it became very mild, and barely noticeable.
