Goat milk has always been a bit of a trade secret among parents. Although many parents already know about the naturally easy to digest properties of goat milk, there are still many misconceptions about goat milk formula.
Here are some of the questions we receive regarding Kabrita Goat Milk Toddler Formula – we hope these answers help you make informed choices about your little one’s nutrition.
No. Our goat milk does not taste ‘goaty’ or tangy at all! The taste of goat milk depends on the goat breed, the freshness of the milk and milking techniques. Ideally, goat milk is delicious, creamy and slightly richer than cow milk.
Kabrita Goat Milk Toddler Formula is made from fresh, premium goat milk from the Netherlands. Many of our Kabrita parents report that our formula has a mild, clean and sweet taste.
No. All milk that comes from a mammal (sheep, goat, or cow) and their related products classify as dairy.
No, Kabrita Goat Milk Toddler Formula is produced in The Netherlands using high-quality, GMO-free European ingredients.
Lactose is the primary carbohydrate source in breast milk and contributes 40-45% of total calories. Also, breast milk contains more than one and a half times the amount of lactose found naturally in goat’s milk!
The ingredients ‘nonfat goat milk powder’ and ‘goat whey protein’ naturally contain lactose. However, we add the ingredient ‘lactose (milk)’ to Kabrita Goat Milk Toddler Formula to provide a valuable and ready source of ingredients.
Kabrita USA is committed to continuous improvement. In response to feedback from our valued consumers, we have removed Glucose Syrup Solids, Taurine, and L-Carnitine from our original formula. We have also added GOS, a prebiotic that may benefit friendly bacteria in the gut.
There is a big difference between a cow milk sensitivity and cow milk protein allergy. Kabrita is often a solution for children with cow milk sensitivity.
Cow milk sensitivity may encompass the delayed, mild to moderate symptoms associated with cow milk consumption. Symptoms include abdominal pain, loose stools, constipation, gas, reflux, and colic.
A confirmed cow milk protein allergy (CMPA) is quite rare, affecting 2-3% of children under the age of six and can be very serious. Symptoms range from swelling around the mouth and difficulty swallowing, to severe diarrhea with blood in the stool and even, for some, anaphylactic shock. Because of the risk of a protein cross-reactivity, Kabrita Goat Milk Toddler Formula is not an appropriate alternative for those diagnosed with cow milk protein allergy.
Since every child is different, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider if you are concerned about whether your little one’s symptoms stem from allergy or sensitivity.
