Bruce's Experience Transitioning Lewis to Kabrita

Every parent’s feeding experience is as unique as their baby. While the journey may be easy for some, others may struggle. Real Parent Story is a series on our blog where we ask real parents to share their feeding stories. Whether you’re expecting or already have little one, we hope these stories can offer you insight into what worked (or didn’t work) for parents just like you. Today, we will be sharing Bruce and Lewis’s story!

Tell us a little bit about Lewis!

My son, Lewis was born last year at 32 weeks. He was a very early baby and only weighed about 4 lbs. He was tiny and had to stay in the NICU for over a month. It was a tough time for my lady and myself - the icing on the cake was that it took us over an hour to get to the hospital. After a month, we got to bring our son home, and he weighed only 5 pounds, so the best option was for him to breastfeed. He breastfed up until he was over a year old and then transitioned to drinking out of bottles and sippy cups.

How did you first hear about Kabrita?

We didn't want to switch to traditional formulas on the market because we weren’t sure of the ingredients that some companies put in their recipe. My wife came across Kabrita while researching online.

Why did you need goat milk formula?

When we were transitioning Lewis from nursing to bottles at first, we were using coconut milk/water. He loved his coconut water so much. We never gave him any whole milk. My wife and I don't think babies or even people, in general, should drink milk from a cow - this can lead to complications in the digestive tract, growth, and the smell of coming out is just awful. We continued with coconut milk/water for a while, but no matter how much our son loved it, he was always under in his percentile. We needed to have a goat milk formula to help my son's growth and to help him wean away from nursing.

What do you think of Kabrita’s taste and smell?

When my wife first mentioned Kabrita’s Goat Milk Formula, my first reaction was, “goat milk and coconut milk taste nothing alike, how is Lewis going to take it?” I am an executive chef, and I love goat cheese and milk, but I didn't acquire a taste until I was in my twenties. I went online and got my first sample, made a bottle, and my son loved it!

How did Lewis transition to Kabrita?

He loved it from the first bottle, and we have been using it ever since. He transitioned to the formula like he had been drinking it his entire life.

What is your favorite thing about Kabrita Formula?

My favorite thing about Kabrita’s formula is that it heats up well and how easy it is to clean his bottles after. I even had Amazon auto-ship it to my house recently. I love this product!

Is there anything else you’d like to add or share?

I love Kabrita and all of their products. If you can create some kind of goat milk gummy or yogurt gummy that would be awesome!
